About the Firm

A practice built on patience

pasirlegara was formed to offer something particular in Singapore's family law landscape — a practice that works at the family's pace and measures progress by what is genuinely useful, not by the hour.

Our Story

How pasirlegara came to be

pasirlegara grew from a straightforward observation: that families dealing with legal matters rarely need the fastest possible outcome. They need a steady hand, clear information, and enough time to understand what they are deciding.

The firm was established with that in mind. We work in family law specifically because it calls for a different quality of attention — one that holds the whole picture of a family's circumstances rather than extracting only the legally actionable parts.

Our name comes from the Malay word for sand — a reminder that useful things take time to settle, and that what remains after the tide recedes is often simpler and clearer than it appeared at the outset.

We are based at Anson Road in Singapore's central business district, within reach of the Family Justice Courts, and we serve clients across the island at all stages of family matters — from an initial question through to concluded proceedings.

What guides the work

We hold that families navigating legal difficulty deserve counsel that is clear, patient, and genuinely in their interest — not advice shaped by the pressure to conclude matters quickly.

Patience

We do not push clients toward conclusions. We hold a steady position alongside them as they work through what is right for their family.

Clarity

Legal language can obscure rather than illuminate. We translate the relevant law into plain terms, in writing, so clients can return to it when they need to.

Discretion

Family matters are private. Everything shared with us stays within the firm, handled with the seriousness and care that personal information requires.

Standards

How we hold ourselves accountable

Professional Registration

All practitioners at pasirlegara are admitted to the Singapore Bar and registered with the Ministry of Law. Continuing professional education requirements are met each year.

Client Confidentiality

Legal professional privilege applies to all communications. Internal data handling follows strict access controls. No client information is shared externally without explicit instruction.

Written Advice Standard

Every substantive piece of advice is confirmed in writing. Clients receive a document they can keep and refer to, not just a verbal summary that fades with time.

Mediation Accreditation

Our mediation work is conducted in accordance with the Singapore Mediation Centre's standards. We are familiar with the processes required under the Family Justice Rules.

Considered Caseload

We limit the number of active matters at any one time so that each client receives a practitioner's full attention. We do not overcommit.

Fee Transparency

Fees are stated clearly before any commitment is made. Where additional costs are foreseeable, they are disclosed and explained in advance without exception.

Family law in Singapore, approached differently

Singapore's Family Justice Courts handle a wide range of matters — divorce proceedings, maintenance applications, custody and care arrangements, and ancillary matters related to matrimonial assets. Each of these calls for accurate legal knowledge, careful preparation, and an adviser who understands what the family is actually trying to achieve.

pasirlegara works within this framework with a particular emphasis on pace and clarity. Where families can reach a considered arrangement without contested hearings, we work steadily toward that. Where proceedings are necessary, we handle them with the same care and attention we bring to all matters.

Our location in the Anson Road area of Singapore places us close to the courts and within convenient reach of clients across the central, eastern, and southern parts of the island. Consultations can be arranged at our office, or by telephone for those who prefer a first conversation at a distance.
